The options at Qdoba in the BC, located in a kiosk outside of section 204, are extremely limited, basically, you can either get a burrito or nachos with ground beef or chicken and a choice of two salsas.
I opted for $8 bowl of chicken nachos and specifically said “no cheese.” When she handed me the bowl, there was queso all over my nachos. I told the employee I had asked for no cheese and she said that queso comes on the nachos. “But queso is cheese,” I retorted as she took the dish back. On their second try, they omitted the queso but put a healthy heaping of cheese atop the nachos. Alas, on the third try, the managed to omit all cheese and I was off—a little frustrated, but excited to revisit one of my favorite BC meals.
The food: My chicken nachos came with black beans and my favorite Qdoba salsa, the spicy Salsa Roja. I ate my meal with the aide of a fork, but most often just with my hands. The meal tastes exactly the same as Qdoba not in a sports arena, although, again, the topping options are much more limited. Nevertheless, as always, this meal hit the spot—and is much tastier than the arena offering of nachos with jalapenos and nacho cheese.
The game: With the playoffs looking like a long shot at this point, I don’t mind losses, but it was a sweet, weird win over the Celtics we witnessed on this night. The Celts were paced by Marquette alum, Jae Crowder’s 18 along with 18 from Avrey Bradley. Greg Monroe came off the bench for the Bucks and scored 29, including a few clutch buckets down the stretch. Nevertheless, the game was decided on back-to-back boneheaded fouls, first from Jerryd Bayless on an inbound with one second on the clock, allowing the Celts to tie the game at the line. Then Bradley fouled Khris Middleton trying to defend Khris’ buzzer beater attempt, which led to the game winning free throw. Bucks 112, Celtics 111.
The verdict: It’s hard to beat Qdoba for an affordable, tasty offering at the BC. Hopefully they get your order right, though.
