Recap: The Milwaukee Bucks hosted the Phoenix suns in a Sunday matinee duel, which featured some drama in a 100-96 Bucks win. Early on, Suns forward Marquese Chriss and Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo were going at it early and jawing at each other. It’s never a good idea to anger the Greek Freak. The game was up and down, and featured a ton of sloppy offensive and defensive lapses, especially for Milwaukee. The Bucks were demolished on the boards, 42-33. The Suns were grabbing offensive rebounds at will, they had 12 offensive rebounds overall compared to only 6 for the Bucks. 5 Bucks players scored in double-figures, which is a great recipe for success.
Giannis Antetokounmpo (28pts, 8reb, 6ast, 1stl, 2blk, 4to): Giannis was in freak mode early, dunking the ball and using his sweet spin move to get to the basket. The Greek Freak shot a stellar 11-13 from the floor and 6-7 from the stripe. He’s just a different animal out there, and he did whatever he could to help the Bucks to victory. When he wasn’t in the game, the Bucks collapsed and blew a 9 point lead with 2 minutes left in the 4th. Jason Kidd’s handling of minutes today was interesting, to say the least. Grade: 100%
Michael Beasley (17pts, 3reb, 0ast, 2stl, 1blk, 4to): X-factor indeed. Michael Beasley was aggressive offensively today, resulting in a great 8-10 shooting performance. Beasley is rolling offensively, and with Khris Middleton clearly not at 100%, it’s just what the doctor ordered for the Bucks. He was also a solid plus-11. Get buckets, my friend. Grade: 88%
Greg Monroe (14pts, 8reb, 3ast, 3stl, 2blk, 3to): Again, Greg Monroe provided the Bucks with instant energy off the bench. With Thon Maker struggling today, Greg Monroe more than made up for it. He cannot be overlooked, it’s clear that Moose has a tremendous work ethic. He’s also a great teammate. He continues to pile up steals, and his anticipation on defense this season has been remarkable. Monroe did get beat occasionally in the offensive glass, but his contributions offensively made up for it and he finished with a plus-8. Grade: 84%
Malcolm Brogdon (15pts, 0reb, 7ast, 2stl, 0blk, 2to): Malcolm Brogdon was ultra effective in his 23 minutes of action. When the Suns began to gain separation in the third quarter, Brogdon sparked the Bucks with three consecutive jumpers and 2 absolute dimes. He clawed the Bucks back into the game when Giannis was resting in the third, and it helped give the Bucks momentum going into the 4th quarter. He is worlds better than Matthew Dellavedova to this point, and theres no reason why he shouldn’t be starting again soon. Grade: 92%
Next up: The Milwaukee Bucks head to Cleveland to face the Cavs tomorrow, in a nationally televised TNT game.
