Recap: The Milwaukee Bucks lead wire-to-wire in their impressive win over the Chicago Bulls, 108-97. Propelled by the young stars of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker, the Bucks were able to come out of the gates red-hot. The Bucks length posed problems for the Chicago Bulls all night, forcing them into 16 turnovers and holding them to only 5 made three pointers. Giannis and Jabari put on a clinic on national television, the basketball world needs to be on notice.
Giannis Antetokounmpo (30pts, 14reb, 3ast, 3stl, 1blk, 2to): What a performance by the Greek Freak. His talents were on full display early, Giannis came out willing to let his jumper fly and it paid off. He hit 2 three pointers on the night, and he added a handful of silky smooth midrange jumpers as well. Defensively, he was a stud as always. He was wreaking havoc in the passing lanes which made it difficult for the Bulls to get anything going on the perimeter, or inside the paint. We were treated to many impresive plays on the night from him, something that Bucks fans have been accustomed to seeing every game this season. His passing was great, he was patient and willing enough to make the extra pass to the open man. Giannis is a consummate teammate. Watching Giannis play the game of basketball is a real treat. Grade: 100%
Jabari Parker (28pts, 5reb, 3ast, 2st, 0blk, 0to): Jabari Parker admitted to having a little pep in his step playing against his hometown Chicago Bulls. He came out firing in the first quarter, hitting two three pointers and having arguably the dunk of the year for the Bucks (see below). Everything was clicking for the Chicago native, from running the fast break, to hitting long jumpers and getting to the foul line. In the 4 of the last 5 games, Parker has scored either 27 points or 28. The scoring is there for him, and his jumper improves every game. Although the rebounding numbers haven’t quite been there, Jabari Parker has been making up for it in plenty of ways. His athleticism was on full display, and there are no signs of him slowing down. Enjoy the ride. Grade: 100%
Mirza Teletovic (13pts, 0reb 2ast, 0st, 0blk 1to): Mirza Teletovic has serious range, and he filled in quite nicely for an injured Michael Beasley. Immediately after being subbed in, he was hitting shots from all over the floor. He had a very nice, tough floater in the lane over Bulls guard Denzel Valentine. With Giannis and Jabari shouldering the scoring load, they needed someone to step up and contribute. Mirza was that man. If he can consistently hit perimeter jump shots this season, it opens up lanes for other teammates to get open for easy looks at the basket. Look for him to be somewhat of an X-factor for the rest of the season. Grade: 85%
Next up: The Milwaukee Bucks hop on a bus and head down to Chicago to play the Bulls again. It is tough to beat the same team in consecutive days. Keep an eye out on how Jabari Parker plays in his homecoming.
