The Packers went though their usual Wednesday practice regiment on Thursday because of this week’s game being played on Monday night. They need a bounce back in a big way after an awful game in Detroit where seemingly nothing went right. Aaron Rodgers could have his number two and three receivers back this week.
Speaking of Aaron Rodgers, he was a full participant in practice on Friday after what is being called a “setback” with his knee. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky said Rodger’s took a hit on the games opening drive that aggravated his bad knee. There is some concern that Rodgers will have to wear a bigger brace than he has been during the season. Obviously there are concerns that would limit his mobility.
Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison both practiced on Friday in a limited capacity, which is a good sign they are on track to play Monday. Both WR’s have hamstring injuries. Allison also had a concussion, but cleared the concussion protocol this week. It would be a big boost to have all three of the Packers top wide outs on the field together, especially if 12 is limited with the knee injury.
The Packers got some good news in regards to their secondary too. Both cornerbacks Jaire Alexander (groin) and Bashaud Breeland (hamstring) returned to practice. Both players were inactive for the Lions game. Kevin King had a bad cut on his chin from the Lions game that put him on the injury report. It shouldn’t be a concern Monday; he was a full participant on Friday. The 49ers aren’t a dynamic offense by any stretch, but it will be nice to the Packers entire starting secondary active for once.
There was some concern regarding Bryan Bulaga at practice on Friday. According to Rob Demovksy, Bulaga was nowhere to be seen during the portion of the practice that was open to the media. He indeed practiced on Friday after the media was gone. Reserve OL Jason Spriggs suffered an injury and had to leave practice.
OLB Nick Perry was limited in practice both Thursday and Friday with an ankle injury. Perry has been a ghost this year, so I’m not sure how much this ankle injury will slow him down.
Tight end Jimmy Graham did not participate on Thursday with a knee injury. He was a full participant on Friday however. Jimmy will be good to go on Monday night.
The game on Monday night is an absolute must win for the Packers. They go on a bye week after this, but then go on the road to face the Rams and the Patriots in consecutive weeks. It is crucial for the Packers to go into the bye at 3-2-1.
