Green Bay Packers Week 8 Injury Report

Coming off their bye week, the Packers will travel to Los Angeles to face the undefeated Rams. Despite the Packers success under Mike McCarthy coming off byes, they are the biggest underdog they’ve ever been with Aaron Rodgers as the starting QB. As of Thursday, the Rams are favored by 9.5 points. Every member of the Packers 53 man roster practiced in some capacity on Thursday. The Packers are going to need a lot to right to win on Sunday, and that is a step in the right direction.

First things first, Aaron Rodgers was a full participant in practice. According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, he was still wearing the knee brace. He said he was hoping to not be wearing after the bye week. Time will tell if he’s got it on come Sunday.

Three of Aaron Rodgers top five wide receivers found their way onto the injury report this week. We know that Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison are dealing with hamstring injuries that have kept them sidelined for the past couple games. They were both limited in practice on Thursday. Hopefully the extra rest they got during the bye week will help them get back on the field. Rookie WR Equanimeous St. Brown was limited with a knee injury. The Packers are going to need to score points to hang in this game, it will be important to have their full arsenal of weapons ready to go.

Speaking of offensive weapons, tight end Jimmy Graham was limited with a knee injury also. Jimmy has been on the last handful of these injury reports, but has yet to miss any games. Unless there is some major setback, we can expect to see #80 on the field this Sunday.

As important as it is going to be for Aaron Rodgers and the offense to score points, it is obviously going to be just as important for the defense to attempt and slow down the high powered Rams offense. Rams quarterback Jared Goff is off to a tremendous start. Having cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Bashaud Breeland could go a long way in slowing down Jared Goff. I still like the Breeland signing even though he has yet to contribute. He is a quality CB that could really help the secondary. Let’s hope the bye week was enough to get him on the field.

We all know it wouldn’t truly be an injury report if Bryan Bulaga and Nick Perry weren’t mentioned. Bulaga is dealing with a knee issue, and Perry has the same ankle injury he’s been dealing with the last few weeks. The Packers need Bulaga to stabilize the offensive line. Nick Perry and Clay Matthews are making over 20 million dollars combined to rush the passer. We are in week 8 and they have combined for THREE TOTAL SACKS. So to put it bluntly, I don’t think it really makes a difference if Perry goes or not. We don’t see him on the field when he plays, so what’s the difference.

No one is expecting the Packers to win this game. Many don’t think it will even be close. There is a chance the Packers have everyone from their 53 man roster active for the first time in forever. I am not saying the Packers are going to hand the Rams their first loss of the 2018 season, but if Aaron Rodgers is playing, I will always believe that the Packers have a chance.
