Three members of the defense are already ruled out. Cornerback Kevin King will miss another game with a quad injury. Josh Jackson will most likely continue to start in place opposite of Jaire Alexander. Safeties Will Redmond and Vernon Scott will also miss the game with shoulder injuries. Safety Raven Greene is dealing with an oblique injury and is questionable for Thursday. The Packers cannot afford another injury at safety.
Left tackle David Bakhtiari (chest) and right tackle Rick Wagner (knee) were limited in practice all week and are officially questionable for Thursday. If they both are unable to go, Billy Turner will continue to play left tackle, but the right side will take some shuffling.
Running back Aaron Jones calf issue is obviously worse than originally thought. He went from a late scratch against the Texans to missing a week of practice and a second consecutive game. He was limited this week and the decision on him will probably be made close to kick off. If he can’t go the Packers are very thin at running back. With Jamal Williams and AJ Dillon on the COVID list, the Packers will use Dexter Williams and Tyler Ervin at running back.
There hasn’t been anything official from the Packers on the status of WR Allen Lazard, but according to his Instagram story, he appears to be on the team flight. The Packers can make a decision him tomorrow if they want. One would think the odds of him playing are pretty good if he made the trip to SF.
The Packers are in an advantageous spot right now. They are playing a team decimated with injuries. They are dealing with issues of their own, but if they can find a way to beat the Niners, they will have a “mini bye” to get some of their banged up players a week and a half of rest.
