The Packers got a much needed win last Sunday in Chicago. It kept their season alive for the time being. The defense will be tested a bit more when Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens visit Lambeau Field. The Packers have seemed to struggle against above average quarterbacks for the better part of a decade. While Flacco is inconsistent, he is more than capable to light up the Packers secondary.

Speaking of Packers secondary, there are a couple important names on there that the Packers desperately need. Like last week, safety Morgan Burnett did not practice with a groin injury. The fact that it’s Thursday and he still hasn’t practiced at all doesn’t bode well for him going on Sunday. Rookie cornerback, Kevin King, injured his shoulder last week. He has been a limited participant this week. His status for Sunday is still unsure, but he’s got better odds to go then Burnett does. The Packers secondary can ill afford to be without both King and Burnett.

The three usual members of the Packers linebacker core had their names appear on the injury report yet again. Ahamad Brook is still dealing with a back issue. He was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice. He was able to go last week, so the odds are he will do the same this week. The same can be said for Nick Perry (foot). Coming off a career high three sack game last week, the Packers will need another effort similar to that to slow down the Ravens. ILB Joe Thomas is still on the injury report with that nagging ankle injury. He was a full participant on Thursday and should be good to go Sunday.

The Packers starting backfield took a hit last Sunday. They lost both Aaron Jones (knee) and Ty Montgomery (ribs) fairly early in the game. Aaron Jones’ knee injury will cost him over a month. Ty’s status isn’t as bad, but he didn’t practice on Thursday. There is a real chance that the Packers will be without both of their top running backs on Sunday. Looks like the Packers will lean heavy on Jamaal Williams to be the workhorse.

A surprising name showed up on the injury report and it startled me when I saw it. QB Brett Hundley is dealing with a hamstring injury. Doesn’t seem like a big deal, as he practiced in full on Thursday.

Now starting right tackle Justin McCray is dealing with an ankle injury and was limited in Thursday’s practice. Considering he played against Chicago, I think he will be ready to go on Sunday. Backup guard Lucas Patrick was a new addition to the injury report with a back injury. He was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice.

The Packers play the Ravens this week, followed by a game at Pittsburgh, a home battle with Tampa, and a trip to currently winless Cleveland. That isn’t what I would call a daunting schedule. If the Packers can somehow find a way to take three of those four, it could get really interesting when and if Aaron Rodgers can play.
