Bucks Hope to Jump the Hump

The Milwaukee Bucks (5-5) will travel to take on Washington (4-4) tonight. The last time these two teams met the Bucks blew a double digit 4th quarter lead, thanks to a barrage of 3’s. Both these teams view themselves as up and comers in the East and in an East that is looking much more competitive early on, every win counts. Jabari Parker was ruled out for the next 3 games with a high foot sprain, hopefully its nothing more serious. O.J. Mayo should be nearing a return, he will bring a couple of dimensions this team is lacking in.  The Wizards have been without Bradley Beal for the last few games and he sat out of practice again yesterday with a shoulder injury, him not being able to go would be a nice bonus for Milwaukee.

Injury Report:

Jabari Parker (Talonavicular) Out

O.J. Mayo (Hamstring) Questionable

Buck to Watch: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis feasted on Otto Porter and Kris Humphries the last time these two teams matched up, if he can replicate that success it would go a long ways towards assuring the Bucks leave with the W. He is a walking mismatch, so if he can get that jumper going early it should open up a lot for this Bucks offense.

Wizard to Watch: John Wall

John Wall is the Wizards best player, he is a terror in transition and one of if not the best play makers in the league. How Michael Carter-Williams is able to slow him will be key for this team, if Carter-Williams is able to wreak havoc in passing lanes and help the Bucks get out in transition, that would be a huge asset.

Matchup to Watch: Greg Monroe Vs Marcin Gortat

Monroe had a big game the last time these two met up, but Gortat is usually a pretty good man defender. Gortat is off to a slow start with substantial drops in rebounding stats and field goal percentage. He’s also seen his turnover percentage spike this year, but on a night when Beal is out Gortat is likely the Wizards second option offensively and Monroe might be the Bucks primary option. While neither are noted defensive stalwarts whomever slows the other more might find themselves the winner at the end of the night.
