5/23-5/24: vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Record: 0-2

Results: 4-3 L, 8-4 L

Star of the Series: Jonathan Villar (2-for-7 (.286), 2 RBI, 3 SB)

Following a day off for the Crew on Monday, the high-octane Toronto Blue Jays came into town for a two-game set. Their power showed itself throughout the series, as the Jays crushed 5 home runs, including 4 on Wednesday on their way to a series win. Matt Garza’s solid stretch of starts came to an end in the series’ final game, as he surrendered 6 earned runs in 5.1 innings, including 3 home runs, in a losing effort.

5/25-5/28: vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

Record: 2-2

Results: 4-0 L, 4-2 L, 6-1 W, 9-5 W

Stars of the Series: Domingo Santana (4-for-14 (.286), HR (Grand Slam Sunday), 5 RBI); Chase Anderson (7.0 IP, H, 3 BB, 11 K on Saturday)

After losing 5 straight, including the first two games of this series, the Crew bounced back strong, finishing with two convincing wins. In Saturday’s win, former Diamondback Chase Anderson took a no-hit bid into the 8th inning before exiting after giving up a leadoff single to Nick Ahmed. He added double digit Ks to cement one of the best pitching performances of 2017 for the Brewers. In the homestand’s final game, Domingo Santana continued swinging his hot bat as his grand slam in the 4th inning catapulted the Brewers to a 9-5 victory. The team now heads into Queens for a 4-game series against the New York Mets before returning home Friday.
