Green Bay Packers Week 16 Injury report

After fumbling away a chance to force overtime and save their season in Carolina last week, the Packers season is over. I am 28 years old, and the Packers will be missing the playoffs for the first time since my senior year of high school. This whole season has sucked, and I am not going to know what to do with myself this January. It just won’t be the same not having my heart ripped out during a playoff loss for the hundredth time.   I know they have two games remaining, but winning either of them will not be beneficial to them. The difference between 7-9 and 9-7 or 8-8 could be a handful of picks between an impact player and just another guy in the draft. The Packers have already ruled out Davante Adams (he shouldn’t play next week either) and Demetri Goodson. There are several other players that may not go on Saturday night.

Pretty much every member of the Packers linebacker group is on the injury report this week and that’s not an exaggeration. Vince Biegel (groin) and Ahmad Brooks (back) were limited early in the week, but were full participants on Thursday. They should both be good to go. Jake Ryan (knee) was also a full participant on Thursday. The same cannot be said for Clay Matthews and Nick Perry however. Clay hasn’t participated in practice yet this week with a hamstring injury and is listed as questionable. We should know his status for Saturday by tomorrow. Nick Perry still has ankle/shoulder issues and is doubtful for Saturday. The odds are the Packers will be without 52 and 53.

Like I said earlier, to no ones surprise, Demetri Goodson will not play on Saturday. I have no idea why he was even put on the active roster. Fellow cornerback Davon House is still dealing with the back issue he suffered in Cleveland. He’s been limited all week and is questionable for Saturday night.

Other than Davante Adams, there are only two offensive players listed this week. Reserve lineman Lucas Patrick (hand) has been a full participant this week and should be active on Saturday. Starting guard Jahri Evans is dealing with a knee injury and hasn’t practiced all week. If Evans can’t go, look for Justin McCray to fill in.

The Viking will come into Lambeau field Saturday night as nine point favorites. That is an extremely high number for a road team in the NFL, and I don’t think its high enough. These last two games are meaningless for the Packers. Looking ahead to the draft, I’m hoping to see the Packers picking with a 7-9 record.
