Green Bay Packers Week 2 Injury Report

The Packers managed to get out of their week 1 victory over Seattle relatively healthy. There is a significant player added to the injury report resulting from last Sunday. Just like week one, they battle another potential playoff foe in week 2. The Packers will open the Falcons new home, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, on Sunday night. This will make the second consecutive season that the Packers will open an opponents stadium on Sunday Night Football. The Packers had five total players on Wednesday’s injury report, three of them did not practice, and the other two were limited.

Like last week, starting left tackle, Brian Bulaga, did not practice with the same ankle injury. To add insult to injury, ESPN’s Rob Demovsky said that Bulaga also went home today with an illness ( We should know more on Bulaga’s status in the coming days. This goes without saying, but the Packers will need as healthy an offensive line as possible to slow down the Falcons pass rush on a fast track.

The other player that did not practice was backup lineman, Jason Spriggs. Spriggs hurt his hamstring against Seattle. Packers coach, Mike McCarthy, said Spriggs will be out a couple weeks.

The third and final player that did not practice was newcomer, Ahmad Brooks. He suffered a concussion in the game on Sunday. Concussions can be tricky and every player responds differently. If Brooks is a DNP tomorrow too, there is a good chance he doesn’t play on Sunday night.

The newest and most startling name to appear on the injury report is starting left tackle, David Bakhtiari. He was a limited participant today with a hamstring issue. This happened during Sunday’s game. It is unsure how serious the injury is, but it still very concerning to see both of the Packers starting offensive tackles on the injury report when they will be trying to block Vic Beasley in a few days.

The last player on the injury report is rookie defensive tackle, Montravius Adams. Adams was able to practice last week for the first time since foot surgery in early training camp to repair a stress fracture.   It is unsure if he will be in the Packers defensive line rotation this week or not.

The biggest concern going into Sunday nights NFC Championship rematch is the health of the Packers two starting offensive tackles. The Packers added an offensive lineman to their active roster on Tuesday. According to Rob Demovsky, the Packers added G/T Adam Pankey to their active roster. Pankey is taking the roster spot of Ricky Jean Francois. Hopefully this is just a precautionary move to cover Jason Spriggs injury.
